Last time around, we had a look at what was coming to ProMods Canada 1.7.0, from Prince Rupert to Meziadin Junction. It’s now time for us to turn west and take a look at what there is to explore down the BC-37A.

Highway 37A
Leaving Meziadin Junction, the mountain scenery quickly starts to build up as we head deeper into the Coast Mountains. We cross Surprise Creek and soon find ourselves passing through Bear Glacier Provincial Park. While Bear Glacier is an impressive sight in its own right, there are even more spectacular views coming!
With SCS’s DLC on the way, it felt wrong to let all that work go to waste, so we decided to get it finished up so that it could spend some time in the spotlight and be enjoyed by all of you; for at least a little while, anyway!
As we continue west, we follow the winding path of the Bear River (pictured above) as it cuts through dramatic alpine gorges and sheer rock walls toward the coastal settlement of Stewart.

Stewart
Nestled at the head of the Portland Canal; a narrow fjord forming the border between Canada and Alaska.. Stewart is a deep-water port town with a rich mining and forestry background.
Framed by steep mountain walls and ocean inlets, this isolated community relies heavily on road freight along Highway 37A to connect its remote docks with the rest of the province.

Hyder
Leaving Stewart to the west, we soon find ourselves at a rather peculiar border crossing. It’s here that we cross into the Alaskan Panhandle. Hyder is an isolated Alaskan town completely disconnected by road from the rest of the United States, accessible overland only via Stewart. While Hyder is a small, quiet community in real life, its addition marks ProMods Canada’s very first expansion into US territory!

Premier
Traveling north out of Hyder as the road turns to dirt and gravel, we quietly re-enter Canada at a modestly signposted border crossing. Now back in British Columbia, we approach Premier. Historically, the Premier Mine was one of North America’s most lucrative gold and silver mines during the 20th century.
While much of the historical infrastructure lies dormant today, modern exploratory and industrial work continues in the surrounding hills, and plans are in place to bring this industry back to life.

Salmon Glacier
Continuing north past Premier, we approach the mighty Salmon Glacier. Ranking as the 5th largest glacier in Canada, it is often cited as one of the largest road-accessible glaciers in North America, offering sweeping panoramas over a massive sea of ice.

In-game, you will be able to haul cargo deliveries up to the glacier viewsite as part of essential road maintenance and stabilization works following a recent landslip. Alternatively, if you fancy taking a break from heavy hauling, why not go for a scenic drive in one of the new cars from SCS’s Road Trip DLC? More information regarding ProMods Canada and Road Trip DLC compatibility will be coming soon!

Thanks for joining us for this two-part overview of the new areas coming in ProMods Canada 1.7.0. We hope to bring this update to you very soon!
