British Columbia Interior

Now that we have shown our biggest city, it’s time to talk about the rest of the map. The British Columbia Interior is generally defined to include the 14 regional districts that do not have coastline along the Pacific Ocean or Salish Sea, AND are not part of the Lower Mainland. In the first version we do not have all 14 of these regional districts (yet). What we do have, however, are breathtaking sceneries:

In the BC interior you will find “bigger” cities like Kamloops, Kelowna and Vernon and “smaller” cities like Princeton and Salmon Arm. Big freeways and small windy single lane roads. Even though the first version doesn’t contain more than 13 cities, it does provide a big variation of roads, cities and scenery.

Also as a nice last surprise, we will reveal here the current ingame map of the mod. So this will be the content that will appear in version 1!

As with the previous blog post, this is all work in progress and anything shown is subject to change.

ProMods Canada: Vancouver

No, not Vancouver, WA. We are talking about Vancouver, BC!

With the first version of ProMods Canada our main focus will be on the areas situated close to the west coast. This naturally brings us to the area called the Lower Mainland, in which the regional districts of Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley are situated. The area houses around 2.83 million people making it impossible for us to ignore.

This makes our lives a lot harder as well. With the scale of the game it is impossible for us to include everything. Therefore we have tried to find the right balance between making it feel very big for the player without overdoing it.

Not only the well known city of Vancouver lies in this area, some of British Columbia’s other biggest cities are situated here as well. Therefore we have also added the cities of Surrey and Coquitlam, instead of calling everything Vancouver. Further down the valley we have added the cities of Abbotsford and Hope, with the latter being at the end of the valley, at the start of the amazing Coquihalla highway. Anyways, that might be a topic for a future blog post, let’s get back to big cities:

Due to having these different cities we have been able to create all sorts of sceneries. From huge bridges over big rivers to wide streets between skyscrapers. There is enough to deliver and see just in this portion of the map, without taking the highways into the mountains and further into the British Columbia Interior. So to close this blog post we have some more pictures:

Beta testing for ProMods Canada is now well underway and we’re making good progress towards release every day, make sure to visit the forum topic for updates on our progress and we will be back here soon with another update.

Note: Everything shown is still work in progress and might be subject to change.

ProMods Canada: Unique City Signs

With ProMods 2.50 for ETS2 released, now seems like the perfect time to show off some of our work in Canada. Today’s blog post focuses on the various unique city entrance signs that you can find around the map. These custom assets have been carefully crafted by our dedicated modeller, Smarty, to be an accurate representation of their real-life counterparts.

The roundabout at Sicamous features night lighting:

Blog updates on ProMods Canada have been lacking for the last few months, because we prefer to only show areas with complete signage and detailing. While we recently filled the last gap in the map in terms of scenery/terrain, which has allowed us to start the testing process, there is still plenty of signage to be placed, and of course many bugs to be fixed. We don’t know exactly how long this will take, and these are not tasks to be underestimated, but we are definitely making good progress towards release.

In the meantime, as signage and finishing touches are applied to more parts of the map, we can showcase more features of ProMods Canada in future blog posts. Make sure to keep an eye on our forum topic and follow our social media channels to make sure you stay up to date.
